Looking after your Great Lengths extensions

Looking after your Great Lengths extensions couldn't be easier if you simply follow the guidelines below:
General Guidelines

Great Lengths extensions are 100% human hair and will behave the same as your own hair. However, you will need to devote a little more time to look after your new extensions properly.

Natural hair loss and re-growth is completely normal and you can expect approximately 50-150 hairs to fall out in a day. When extensions are attached some of these loose hairs remain trapped in the bonds so regular maintenance is essential to prevent this hair from matting.

A percentage of bonds may also be lost during the life of the extensions. Again, this is perfectly normal and if you keep the bonds they can be taken to your next maintenance check appointment and possibly re-applied.

We recommend you tie your hair in a loose pony tail to prevent tangling whilst sleeping. Remember to return to your salon for your free Maintenance check.

Tips for Daily Care and General Maintenance

Do not shampoo your hair for 48-hours after your extensions have been attached as this allows the bond to set

Shampoo and condition at least once a week and follow the detailed directions on the bottles

Finish by rinsing your hair in diluted Final Rinse Anti-Tap to restore the hairs pH value

The bond is at its most vulnerable when wet so it is important to dry your bonds first and thoroughly. Do not towel dry the hair with a scrubbing motion, but blot the hair and wrap in the towel to remove the moister. Blow-dry your hair on a cool temperature. Your extension hair may take longer to dry.

Brushing

The most suitable brushes are flat-headed, soft bristle brushes

If using a comb, start at the ends of your hair, combing gently through the hair and gradually working up to the bond area

Do not comb between the scalp and the bond.  Simply separate the bonds with your fingers to prevent matting

Styling and Finishing Your Hair

Styling products, such as Great Lengths Styling Glaze, can only be applied to the lengths and ends of your hair and not onto the bond itself

The Great Lengths round brush can be used for blow-drying

Tongs and heated rollers can be used, but they must be kept away from the bond

Use Great Length's products at all times

Extensions and Your Lifestyle

Extensions suit most lifestyles, however be mindful to the following circumstances which may affect the life span of your bonds or in fact, cause them to breakdown.

Regular swimming - particularly sea water and chlorine pools

Regular sauna/steam room use

Excessive aerobic exercise

To help - use diluted Great Lengths Final Rinse solution. It is essential both before and after activities. Remember to always dry off your bonds.

Failure to comply with these guidelines could cause the bond and hair to deteriorate and reduce the life span of your extensions.
